Alright Guppies! Friday's performance was pretty good! The bus-stop and canteen one performances were pretty assuring for me. In the sense that you guys CAN work together ( more or less ) and that the future of Baracuda is/will be pretty stable.
However, there are a lot of things that we ( the seniors ) have to talk to you ( guppies ) about. First of all, ATTITUDE or rather your CHARACTER as a person. The seniors have been observing and certain things have been brought to my attention. I have to say that I am the least bit happy about the INDIVIDUAL CHARACTERS in the band. All I'll say now is that we're here for the music. Well at least I am. Are you (guppies and some seniors) here for the same reason?
The second thing is the OVERALL SOUND OF THE BAND. It is crucial that every section has a complete, or at the very least, a partial understanding of how OUR band should sound like. We have to understand that the band is huge right now. We've never had this many players before in our history. Try looking at some youtube videos of other batucada bands. Not just the ones in Singapore. Try and understand how the band works to allow every section to be heard. The seniors will not spoon feed you with every single detail and I refuse to allow them to do that. Sooner or later, the guppies will run the band and if you guys know nothing then that'll be the end of Baracuda. So dun be lazy! Wake up! Do some research and bring in some ideas for the band. It can be a part for a new song or a way to improve the band's sound or anything that will/could benefit the band!
The third thing is the band's energy. There are certain individuals whose energy when performing is evident and there are those whose energy is simply non-existent. Baracuda is a performance group and not an advertisement for medicine that leaves you with a drowsy effect. If the audience doesn't see that we're having fun then how can they enjoy our performance? When we're out there, give it your all! JUMP! SCREAM! FLIP YOUR STICKS! Do whatever it takes to get the audience hyped up! One thing to remember is that WE GO TO GIGS TO GET GIGS! Remember this for the rest of your lives! How can we get gigs when we go to a performance looking like a bunch of zombies? A performance should be visually exciting and rhythmically enticing! Baracudas should be FIERCE yet HUMBLE. One wrong move and we'll be at the throats of the offenders but yet we'll never brag about the murders we commit. WAKE UP GUPPIES! You guys are old enough to understand this.
Lastly. I feel that we do not have enough performances. Seniors, if there are any "in-school" events that you hear of please approach the organisers and ask them if we can perform at their event. My goal for the amount of performances per month will be 7 a month. This will take effect from JULY 2008. Which is tmr! So far we've got 4 performances this month. Guppies if you guys hear of any events happening please do inform the seniors!
I feel that what I've said here has to be discussed as a band. Therefore I am calling a meeting on Friday. Probably at 6.30pm - 11pm to discuss everything I've said on the blog and anything that the band wishes to discuss. I am expecting everyone to be at this meeting as it is extremely important. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee. WE MUST MAKE BARACUDA WELL KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL AND THE COUNTRY!
