Hello to all you lucky bastards who have potable water AND internet access.

It has been awhile since this blog has been updated, but then again, no one reads this thing nowadays. But I hope you guys have been brought up to date with our shenanigans mainly via our twitter and/or facebook pages. 

Anyway, I'm sure most of you are (or have to be) aware that our beloved mothership turned 50 on Friday, and due to this momentous occasion, Baracuda Batucada was summoned by SDAR to be involved in every single one of their idea of "celebratory events". Over a span of two weeks, the band slogged it out under the sun and missed countless lessons, only to drag our beloved instruments around the school for one minute performances. But words cannot describe how amazing we made this initially slave-like journey to be, so I'll let the pictures do the talking:

Malaysian Cup Lions XII @ Jalan Basar Stadium

Soccer Fans out there! Did you catch the Malaysian Cup?! We played near the ticket counters and walked up and down the walkway! We were part of the awesome formation 'LIONS XII' on the field as well :D Whoa, not to mention, there were awesome hiphop-cum-football jugglers too! The footballs looks as if they're in control!

M:idea Youth Choice Awards @ Zouk

Party time at Zouk! Well, not really.

Event that was happening was MYCA, M:idea Youth Choice Awards.

Organised by m:idea, a student-run media conglomerate from Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s School of Film & Media Studies, MYCA is unlike most other award shows as it doesn’t celebrate the success of our local musicians and celebrities. Rather, it is an award show that recognises the voice of the youth, having received more than 91,000 votes during the voting period of the campaign.

Baracuda Batucada Freshies Camp '11

Creating Inspiration with Inspiring Creations

We are very honored to be able to work alongside Caterpillars Cove from Ngee Ann for our upcoming gig at Suntec City for a Childcare Seminar by MCYS.

To get the children ready to perform alongside us, playing one of our very own Baracuda Batucada songs, Mario and Tribal Gear, our members have been down to Caterpillars Cove to teach and guide the children as the talented bunch masters pieces.

You will be able to hear the song played by the wonderful children from Caterpillars Cove as well as members of Baracuda Batucada on the 29th of September. Do drop by to support the little children.

Hi folks.

It's the midst of the examinations in Ngee Ann Polytechnic...and we assume it's happening all around the other schools too...Baracuda Batucada would like to express their heartfelt wishes to those sitting those 1 - 2 hour long papers. Press on and you'll pull it through.

Finally Drumzout 2011 is over! The family would like to thank you, the fans, because we wouldn't have made it this far without your continuous love and support for us. Though we came in as 3rd runner up, we shall not wallow in despair. We will continue rocking out for your listening pleasure.

Like Master Erin said, "Where our music is welcome, we will play it loud, Where our music is challenged, we will play it louder."

Drumzout 2011

So word on the street is that there's a drumming competition around the corner.

Founded in 2008, “DrumZout” is a Nationwide Percussion Competition organized by the Special Project arm of Nanyang Technological University Cultural Activities Club.

But enough talk, do come down and support us for the finals because we're not just in it to win it, but also to rock you out!

So come on down to the Playspace @ scape, 26th June 2011. 4pm.
And get some feet-stompin', head-noddin', eye-poppin' love!

we would like to congratulate those who got into Baracuda Batucada. This is only the beginning to a new and fun filled journey!

For those who did not make it into Baracuda, do not be discouraged for you can always try again next year! You won't know for you might just get in next year! DON'T GIVE UP!
